Littlest Hero Sawyer * Sneak Peek * Florence, MS baby photographer

I fell in love this morning...

... with this face.  How absolutely adorable is he?!

He started off looking at me pretty serious... probably wondering why there was a big black thing pointed in his face. But once I started laughing like Ernie from Sesame Street, he smiled right back at me.

He was just too sweet!

Baby Sawyer has Prune Belly Syndrome and kidney failure. He is currently on peritoneal dialysis while awaiting a transplant.

Custom Photography : The Nitty Gritty

In a day and age where digital photographers are in abundance, how do you choose the photographer that's right for you?

I know that not everyone will choose me to be their family's photographer. And that's OK! I have two small children and choose to book a limited number of sessions each month. My time is valuable. I can't emphasize that enough. By booking a limited number of sessions, it allows me to spend quality time with my family and quality time editing each of my sessions.

There is a great deal of time involved in creating high end custom photography sessions for my clients.  The luxury of great service, better choices and a superb end product results in heirloom quality images. The time invested at the session itself is only a small portion of time involved in this process.

TIME & COSTS
Many people do not understand the time involved for each session. There is the time to travel to/from the session, time for the session itself (which can sometimes last up to 3-4 hours for newborns), then there's the time it takes to select the best images to edit, editing the images, preparing them for the client to look at and order from, ordering the images and packaging the images for shipping. So, the time involved for each session is at least 8-10 hours. I'm speaking from my viewpoint. There are some photographers out there who edit their images very quickly. And I think the quality of their work shows for it. However, I'm a perfectionist and like to spend quality time editing each one.

There's also the cost involved in photography equipment and running a business. There's constant costs in training, professional association fees, insurance, packaging supplies, marketing materials, advertising, website maintenance, etc. And photography equipment isn't cheap! Quality lenses are anywhere from $1000+. Professional digital cameras are anywhere from $2500+. Having a professional grade camera and quality lenses results in a better quality image.

DIGITAL FILES
The number of photographers offering their digital images on a CD are on the rise. Why don’t all photographers include them in the session fee for free? Don’t the files belong to you anyway?

Federal copyright law is very clear about image ownership. The images your photographer takes with his/her camera belong to your photographer, who has the sole right to print, display, and sell them.

I do offer digital files from your session for purchase, but they are the most expensive item on my price list. Why? Simply because I value the time that I put into each of my client's sessions. The images I present are custom works of art that I have perfected with my artistic style.

APPLES TO ORANGES
So, now that you can understand where my session fee and print prices come from. My prices are different from other photographers - and they should be! Simply because I'm not the same as other photographers. Everyone has their own artistic style. I want my clients to choose me to be their photographer because they value my work and artistic style, and not because I have the best deal on an 8x10.

If you're hungry, you can go to the drive-thru at a fast food chain or you can enjoy a nice steak dinner at a wonderful restaurant. Both restaurants accomplish the same thing in satisfying your hunger. But the experience of each is entirely different. The same applies to photographers.

As I said earlier, I know not everyone can or will want to choose me to be their photographer. I'm OK with that. But please, please, PLEASE - if you choose someone else, make sure you're going to get quality images and service. If you cannot afford the custom photography that I offer, I would be glad to refer you to another professional in the area.

"The photographs that are produced as a result of the professionalism and dedication that your photographer has, will be cherished for a lifetime (or more) and great thought and consideration should be placed into hiring who is right for your family's most precious investment."  - Professional Child Photographer

One Year *Sneak Peeks* Madison, MS baby photographer

One year has passed since I photographed this sweet girl when she was a newborn. She was the first newborn that smiled for me like this. Only five days old.

Here she is one year later.

And just as sweet as she can be!

Of course, the temperature had to drastically change today. It was freezing. I say freezing, but I mean "freezing"... as it was only 50 degrees outside. But that's still a big difference from the 86 degree temp we had just two days earlier!

She was a trooper in the chilly weather.

Thanks {W} family - hope you enjoyed the sneak peeks!

Remember baby {T} from earlier this year?

Here he is, nine months later.

And just as sweet as he can be! He was such a happy baby during his session.

He's definitely on the move. At one point he nearly climbed up in my lap to check out my camera.

And while on location, I saw this tree. I wish I could dig it up and plant it in my yard.

Hope you enjoyed the sneak peeks {S} family! Can't wait to show you the rest :)

Perfectly made *sneak peeks* Florence, MS newborn photographer

This morning I had the pleasure of meeting Meagan.

When Meagan was 18 weeks and 2 days pregnant, she and her husband found out they were having a baby boy. They also learned that their baby had OEIS complex (some of his intestines and organs were outside the abdominal wall). OEIS complex is an extremely rare disorder.

It occurs in 400-500,000 births.

Because of the birth defects, Meagan was told several times that she should terminate the pregnancy.

She refused.

Meet Carter.

Born on August 20, doctors believed he would be in the NICU until at least December.

He went home 4 weeks after he was born.

Though he has OEIS, Carter is perfectly made in his Creator's eyes.

I can see God in little Carter's face.

Can you?

Fall season *sneak peek* Clinton, MS child photographer

Fall is definitely in the air and the leaves are starting to change colors. Fall is my favorite time of year! I love the smell of an apple candle burning and love to see the beautiful Fall foliage. Not to mention the cool temperatures, which offer a much needed relief from our unbearably hot summers.

At the start of this Fall season I had a session with this sweet family.

Their little one was quiet and inquisitive, not sure about the big black thing I had pointed at his face.

He soon warmed up to me and started to show his sweet personality!

I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek {M} family. It was hard to pick which sneaks to show - I can't wait to show you the rest!

Yesterday afternoon I photographed this sweet family.

How cute are they?! These two little boys were super sweet.

This little guy, well, what can I say? Adorable.

Don't let him fool you. This was about the only 2 seconds during the session that he was still!

This little man was cute as he could be too. Look at his sweet curls. Love it!

It was so very hard to choose which images to show as sneak peeks - I hope you enjoyed them {S} family! I can't wait to show you the rest!

Glowing * Sneak Peek * Raymond, MS maternity photographer

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet couple who are expecting their first baby soon. You'd think that with it being mid-September it'd be cooler than 90+ outside. It was hot, but this sweet Momma-to-be was a trooper. How gorgeous is she?!

Little (A) * sneak peeks * Brandon, MS newborn photographer

Meet Little {A}. She was very alert for being less than 10 days old.

But soon she fell asleep. And once she was asleep, she slept good.

When I first found out that little {A} was going to be a girl, I was so excited. Because I had several sweet headbands I wanted her to wear. Yes, I admit, I'm a newborn photo prop junkie. Can you blame me? How precious is this?!

Little {A}'s Mom found this hat on etsy. Which is yet another love of mine. If you haven't heard of etsy, you're missing out. And I'm so glad she liked this little hat as much as I do.
